Diana Vickers has revealed that she has started work on her next album.
The 'Once' singer, whose debut album Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree entered at the top of the charts last month, also said that songwriting has been the key to her success.
Giving advice to those hoping to win the Brit Award prize for 'Class Act', she told Metro: "Never give up. Always be optimistic. If you believe in yourself you can do it. It's all about how passionate you are about it.
"Strive to be in the school plays and work on your music and song writing, and seize every opportunity. I wrote songs for my first album and tomorrow I start writing for me second."
Describing her new single 'The Boy Who Murdered Love' from her current LP, she said: "It's about when you like someone or you are in love with them and you get your heart broken a little bit, and love that was once a beautiful thing turns into a dark thing."
'The Boy Who Murdered Love' is released on July 12.

Billi Bhatti's wife has warned X Factor star Diana Vickers to stay away from her husband.
The Big Brother 8 contestant was rumoured to have "snogged" Vickers during a night out earlier this month. The 'Once' singer has rubbished the accusations, but Bhatti has maintained that the pair are "close".
"We're good friends," he told Heat. "We've been in touch on Facebook since she was on The X Factor."
However, in an interview with Closer, Bhatti's six-week pregnant wife Holli Henderson said that she had thrown her partner out over the alleged affair. The couple have since reunited, but Henderson claimed that she would "go mental" if Vickers approached Bhatti again.
"At first he denied it, but I thought, 'I'm not going to stand for this' so I packed all his stuff into bin bags and threw them out the door," she said.
"I'm really angry. Diana shouldn't be messing around with people's husbands. She could have any man, she doesn't need to have mine."
She added: "If I wasn't pregnant I probably wouldn't take him back at all. But I've got to consider other things now, it's not just me.
"This thing with Diana completely ruined my marriage. I'd go mental if she ever went near my husband again."

Diana Vickers has claimed that she is a "bit wiser" now.
The 'Once' singer admitted that she struggled to cope with the attention when she was on The X Factor in 2008.
"It was crazy back when I was in the show, especially that week when I had to sit out because of my throat infection," The Mirror quotes her as saying.
"But then you know it's going to be like that because it's the most talked-about show on TV. There's a lot of press and you see it every year. You can't prepare yourself properly for it though. It's a bit like, 'Flippin' heck'. Absolutely crazy."
However, she continued: "Now it's different, though, because I've written my own music and I'm not doing covers anymore. I think I'm a bit wiser than I was, which has come from working with older and wiser people. I've learned so much."

Diana Vickers's former West End co-star has compared her to Kate Bush.
Marc Warren, who appeared alongside Vickers in The Rise And Fall Of Little Voice earlier this year, described the singer as "a real special talent".
Speaking to DS at the launch of BBC3's upcoming Boy George drama Worried About The Boy, in which he plays singer/nightclub host Steve Strange, Warren revealed that he had spoken to Vickers "straight after" her debut single 'Once' reached No.1 on Sunday.
"We're great pals and I think she's just brilliant. She gave her album to me on the last night of Little Voice and I love it," he said.
"I think she's a real special talent and I think this is just the start of a great career. She kind of reminds me of Kate Bush a little bit actually - I know Kate Bush started out at around her age."
Vickers's debut album Songs From The Tainted Cherry Tree is released on Monday.

Diana Vickers has admitted that the prospect of kissing one of the JLS boys is "disgusting".
The 18-year-old singer, who last week stormed to the top of the charts with debut single 'Once', insists that her relationship with the boyband would never go beyond friendship.
She told The Mirror: "Urgh, I couldn't snog one of the JLS boys, that would be disgusting, like incest or something.
"If one of them tried to ask me out it would be so wrong, it would never happen. They treat me like their 8-year-old sister and they are like my big brothers."

Diana Vickers has said that she feeds off the energy of the audience at her live shows.
The former X Factor contestant told the Daily Mail that she did not feel comfortable on stage when she first appeared on the reality talent show.
Vickers said of auditioning for the programme: "I didn't want to do it at first, because it sounded like too much effort.
"Most of the other performers - Alexandra, Ruth Lorenzo and JLS - had all sung live before. My stage experience consisted of singing in the school choir and doing a couple of school plays.
"But I loved music. When I got home from school, I'd go straight to my room and listen to CDs. I was always playing Queen, The Beatles, Kings Of Leon and Tina Turner."
She added of her music career: "Singing my own songs has been the best part of this. And I now feel much more comfortable on stage. I love feeding off the energy of a live crowd."
Vickers, who performed with collaborator Nerina Pallot in London earlier this week, embarks on her second UK tour next month.
